Back in 2008, my high school consoler started a meditation club where he would guide maybe 5 of us students every Wednesday through different meditations that reconnected us to our bodies. At the same time, I was beginning to unpack many of my insecurities/traumas in therapy that also used listening to the body as a way to understand those manifestations. Fast forward a bit, scents are important to memory. They can instantly snap us back to re-experiencing. Scents carry a lot of that emotional fluidity. The scents I've made remind me of those nice places. Those places of reconnecting. I don’t use essential oils and only use plant materials such as sweet grass, and palo santo. I hope you find them restorative.
